Colectivo 25 de noviembre - Reunion 4
Amigas y amigos:
Envío la síntesis de la última reunión del colectivo; repartimos los las copias de "En el tiempo de las mariposas", video motivador sobre el origen del 25 de noviembre a ser usado en los talleres de sensibilización; quedan
copias aún en Flora. A continuación un resumen de los puntos más
importantes:
A. El tema central de las actividades del Colectivo 25 de noviembre será
enfatizar la responsabilidad del Estado Peruano frente a la violencia
contra la mujer. El Estado Peruano no ha cumplido sus obligaciones para prevenir, sancionar y erradicar la violencia contra la mujer, lo que
expresa en tres aspectos centrales de reclamo:
1. Extinción del Programa contra la Violencia familiar y Sexual por medio del Decreto Supremo Nº 005-2007-MIMDES del 5 de mayo de 2007.
2. Transferencia de los Centros de Emergencia Mujer (CEM) del MIMDES a los Gobiernos Provinciales y Locales en inadecuadas condiciones.
3. Incumplimiento de las metas del Plan Nacional Contra la Violencia Hacia la Mujer 2002-2007.
B. MOVILIZACIÓN CENTRAL. VIERNES 23 DE NOVIEMBRE Concentración: 2:30 p.m.

D. Se armaron las cuatro comisiones: MOVILIZACION, POLÍTICA, COMUNICACIONES, ACTIVIDADES. Están abiertas a más organizaciones.

| Sign-on: Alternative Report for the CRC Optional Protocol on Child T
Dear Colleagues:
In April 2007, our government submitted an Initial Report of the United States of America to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child Concerning the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the
Sale of Children, Child Prostitution and Child Pornography. The Report was given to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child in Geneva.
In response to this, ECPAT USA, in collaboration with other U.S. based NGOs, has written an Alternative Report to the government's Initial Report. Its purpose is to offer additional information regarding the government's commitment to the elimination of the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography and provide civil society's perspective on areas
needing further development and progress in addressing these matters. We are writing to ask for your support for our Alternative Report, which is attached.
We believe that more organizations supporting the Alternative Report will carry greater weight with the UN Committee. It is a timely moment for
organizations to take a stand on child trafficking because the latest
revisions of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act have been recently
introduced in Congress. We urge you to demonstrate your support for a strengthened government response.
The report must be in Geneva by November 15th so we are asking for a response from all organizations by Friday, November 9. Please respond by email to csmolenski@ecpatusa.org, indicating the name of your organization and that you would like to be listed as a "submitting organization." A cover letter will accompany the report to the UN Committee on the Rights of
the child with the names of all the submitting organizations. Please feel free to call if you have any questions.

The Fifth Battered Mothers Custody Conference
is scheduled for
January 11th - 13th
(Fri. evening - Sunday evening),
2008 in Albany, New York
at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center

The theme of the 2008 conference is

The BMCC V is devoted to addressing and solving the serious problems faced by battered women who attempt to gain legal protections for themselves and

Mothers File International Complaint Against the United States
On May 11, just before Mother’s Day weekend, ten mothers, one victimized child, now an adult, leading national and state organizations filed a complaint against the United States with the Inter American Commission on Human Rights. Their petition claims that U.S. courts, by frequently awarding child custody to abusers and child molesters, has failed to protect the life, liberties, security and other human rights of abused mothers and their children.

Council of Europe Convention against Trafficking in Human Beings will enter into force
Strasbourg, 24.10.2007 -- The Council of Europe Convention against Trafficking in Human Beings (CETS n° 197) will enter into force on 1 February 2008, following the ratification by Cyprus as the tenth country to ratify it. On this occasion Terry Davis, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, made the following statement:
“The Convention is deliberately hard on traffickers and makes a clear difference for the victims of this crime. These victims will be offered comprehensive assistance and protection of their human rights.
Europe is finally going to use this new and far-reaching instrument to fight this modern form of slavery. Ten ratifications take us over the threshold required for the Convention to enter into force, but the Convention will use its full potential when it is ratified by other countries in Europe and beyond.
The fact that this treaty has been agreed within the Council of Europe extends its application to all European countries, which include countries of origin, transit and destination of the victims of trafficking. It is also open to non-European countries and therefore provides a global response to a global problem. “
The main features of the new Convention include:
* compulsory assistance measures and a recovery and reflection period of at least 30 days for the victims of trafficking,
* the possibility to deliver residence permits to victims not only on the basis of cooperation with the law enforcement authorities, but also on humanitarian grounds;
* the possibility to criminalise “the clients”;
* a non-punishment clause for the victims of trafficking;
* a strengthened international cooperation system and an independent monitoring mechanism, GRETA, which will monitor the proper implementation of the Convention by the Parties.

| "Words of Hope" Written for SAGE Survivors
October 25th, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

"Words of Hope" will recognize sex trafficking survivors who have experienced domestic violence. Students, local activists and members of the community will come together to discuss how domestic violence, in the form of physical abuse, is one method that human traffickers, pimps, and johns use to hold captive victims of sex trafficking.
Domestic violence is a form of control that prevents sex trafficking victims from escaping or reporting their conditions to law enforcement.
During the event, all members of the community will be invited to participate in letter writing to sex trafficking survivors. All letters/cards created will be sent to survivors who are affiliated with the Standing Against Global Exploitation (SAGE) Project.
Annie Fukushima, a scholar activist and founder of the Students and Artists Fighting to End Human Slavery, will be present to share about her activist work combatting sex trafficking.
The event is co-sponsored by STOP the Traffick, Luna Bar, The Emancipation Network (TEN), Prytanean Women's Honor's Society, and the Conference on Asian Pacific American Leadership (CAPAL).
Admission is free. Refreshments will be provided.

We need your help in publicizing the availability of our unique Graduate
Scholarships in Reproductive and Sexual Health Law in the International Reproductive and Sexual Health Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Toronto, Canada.
The scholarship, which enables lawyer activists from developing countries to undertake the Master of Laws (LL.M.) Programme at
the University of Toronto's Faculty of Law, includes full tuition, travel
and a stipend for living expenses.
The application deadline is February 1, 2008.

necesito pencion alimenticia ademas justicia poque he sido maltratada psicologicamente ya que para pedirle dinero y el me mandara tenia que hacer por via telefonic el sexo tambien me pedia que continuamente mandara fotos desnuda lo hacia por el dinero ya que mi hijo es enfermizo tansolo por 100 dolares mensuales a quien medirijo (informacion personal redactado por admin) me urge demandarlo por daños psicologicos desde hace 8 años vivo una insertidumbre constante porfa ayudenme
