I am a victim of rape. August, 2006, my neighbor was in my home as he had been dozens of times. this time it wa personal. within a half hour of his presence, the police were called and i was transported to hospital while he rode away.
He was apprehended and questioned and booked as the evidence then and there was so overwhelming. A few court dates later, he passed a polygraph and was released. I offerred to take one and I failed, he was then able to move right back in next door to me. The case was dismissed without having sought any more evidence, dna, etc.
Pictures were taken of the bruising on my neck and thighs within minutes of the rape, thus having not shown up as clearly as the next day.

I went in to the police station the following morning to write my statement and the bruises were extremely prevalent at that time, though no more photos were taken because they had already shot them the day of the rape, so the detective did not see the neeed. . . until court, when he finally developed or printed the photos and knew he made a mistake. Bruises do not usually develop in a matter of moments, the photos looked like i may have only scratched my neck and thigh, so they were not even submissible. (Yet at the station the next day, it was obvious the bruise around my neck was a full hand.)
The DA then informed me that she believed I had filed a report falsely, that i could be prosecuted. With her was the Rape Victim Advocate. I was read my rights and suggested that an attorney would only make me look even more guilty. The conversation ended with them saying "you have ruined your life. look at you, you're a mess. and you are just paranoid. he never touched you.in fact, he was never in your house."

the DA threatened to have me arrested had I pursued the matter. At the time I had no phone, no computer and no vehicle, thus I was left to deal with all these emotions alone.
no fingerprints were ever taken and the case was dismissed in October, 2006.

I have become a recluse at this point, afraid of everything and everyone. I am now on the internet,9 months later, and i have a phone.
I live in Michigan where the incident took place. I have copies of all the police reports and I need some questions answered.
Please help me, if not to find justice, at least teach me how to face myself and the world outside my home again.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Karen Elizabeth

NARAL Pro-Choice America
PLAN B. WHERE'S YOURS?
************************************** **

Approximately 350,000 women currently serve in the U.S.
military, making up almost 15 percent of all active-duty
personnel. But federal law does little to protect their
reproductive rights: not only are they banned from accessing abortion care at military medical facilities, but some cannot even obtain emergency contraception, which can prevent unintended pregnancy if taken soon after sex, at their base
pharmacy.

Don't wait! Please urge Congress to ensure that emergency
contraception is stocked at every military health-care facility
- click here http://prochoiceaction.org/campaign/hous e_dodec_0507/wdn5ukk9yx3kibi?.

Our government should provide the highest standard of care to
women who have volunteered to serve our country, plain and
simple. In 2002 health officials at the Defense Department
agreed, and approved Plan B to be stocked at military medical
facilities. However, weeks later, President Bush's political
appointees overruled the decision without discussion or explanation.

This week, Congress has an opportunity to improve health care
for women in the military with a bill sponsored by lawmakers in
both parties and on both sides of the choice issue. The
Compassionate Care for Servicewomen Act simply adds Plan B to the list of medications that must be stocked at every military
health-care facility.

Please take action today to defend the rights of those who defend us. Urge your lawmaker to support the Compassionate Care for Servicewomen Act to ensure that emergency contraception is
available to women on every military base - click here
http://prochoiceaction.org/campaign/ho use_dodec_0507/wdn5ukk9yx3kibi?.

A vote could take place as early as tomorrow, and it is going to be very close. Take action today! Click here

If we want to HELP THE CHILDREN we must HELP THE MOTHERS so I thought, as a professional, you might be interested in a great book I found on the web called:

SUDDENLY SINGLE MOM, A Practical Guide to Self-sufficient Survival, (c) 2006
by T.J.Terry

It is an EXCELLENT RESOURCE for single mothers. You will find it useful professionally. OVER HALF of all school-aged children live in single mom homes.

You can find it via search engine=> "SUDDENLY SINGLE
